In the world of men's footwear, tastes are unique and uses are multiple. It is with this in mind that Finsbury now offers more than 150 models in a variety of shapes, from Oxfords to Derby shoes, from boots to sneakers, including loafers and monk strap shoes.

But what's the difference between these different models, and what can you expect from each? We're reviewing all the models in our wide range to help you find the perfect fit!

THE RICHELIEU

Sewn from a single piece of leather, the closed lacing (guards trapped under the upper, V-shape) of the Richelieu gives a refined and dressed look to the man's foot. It is by this lacing that it distinguishes itself from the Derby. The Richelieu is the timeless and must-have of the male wardrobe. Among our Anglo-Saxon friends it is called Oxford.

The Richelieu shoe is ideal for people with a low instep and relatively narrow feet. It is the ultimate refined style and can be worn with formal attire for work or a chic, dressy evening.

THE DERBY

Unlike a Richelieu, the Derby is sewn from two pieces of leather. Its open lacing offers a less formal style than the Richelieu.

It is suitable for people with a more developed instep and offers extremely appreciable comfort because its open lacing (quarters slapped on the upper leaving the guards free, "shutter opening") allows it to better adapt to the shape of the foot. It is the most widespread model of city shoes for men.

THE LOOP

Monk shoes were somewhat abandoned during the second half of the 20th century but are making a comeback, notably thanks to the famous Pitti Uomo. There are single-monk models (one single buckle) and double-monk models (two buckles). Monk shoes are the boundary between Oxfords and Derby shoes.

The monk strap shoe is perfect for men looking for a unique shoe: less formal than the Oxford shoe but more fashionable than the Derby shoe. It can be worn with or without socks, depending on how casual you want to be.

THE MOCCASIN

Both casual and chic, the men's loafer is a very versatile piece that will go with many outfits in both summer and winter.

Without laces, it is also very comfortable and suitable for people with medium to high insteps.
Slip-on, tasseled, lace-up or even studded, there are many styles of men's loafers to suit all tastes.

THE SNEAKER

Originally designed for sports, the Sneaker model, or more commonly called basketball, is the ultimate casual model.

A must-have in men's fashion, it offers exceptional comfort for a relaxed effect in all circumstances, thanks in particular to its rubber sole. Increasingly present in everyday life, even with a suit, leather sneakers will break the formal air of a suit and give you a relaxed look.

THE BOOT or BOOTS

Mainly inspired by winter collections, the boot, more commonly called men's ankle boot, has made a place for itself in the male wardrobe for its trendy and quirky side.

With or without elastic, men's ankle boots can be worn all winter long, whether with chinos or jeans. Often featuring a rubber sole for added comfort, these boots can be worn both weekdays and weekends.
